WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A GAS INSERT
Depending on the size of your room and how important the fireplace is to serve as a heat source, you’ll want to consider total BTU output, good radiant heat, and controllable turndown for maximum performance when purchasing a new gas fireplace insert.
Got a special look you‘re hoping to achieve? Our gas Fireplace Insert Specialists can help guide you in the right direction. We carry a wide range of styles from contemporary to traditional and everything in between.
Depending on your needs, today’s gas inserts come with a wide variety of options including wireless remote control, energy efficiencies, and log, stone or glass arrangements.
After doing this for over 35 years, we’ve nailed down the process required to add the warm ambiance of a gas insert into your home. From start to finish, there are four steps:
Step One: Clearances for Gas Inserts
Before purchasing a new gas insert you should have your masonry or metal wood burning fireplace inspected for clearances and fitting. Also of concern are where gas lines will run and the installation of liners in the chimney. All of this information is available through our Fireplace Specialists.
Step Two: Gas Line, Insert & Venting Installation
Now it’s the exciting part! We’ll connect you with a certified gas fitter who can run the line to your insert. We’ll also then install the insert and venting components, connecting everything for a seamless installation.
Step Three: Safety Code Permit
With the installation now complete, your gas installation permit is submitted by your installer and will assure that your unit meets BC Safety Authority standards and building codes.
Step Four: Finishing, Mantle Installation & Completion
With the required permit in place, you can now refinish your fireplace to suit your tastes. We can recommend finishers who do great work and certainly don’t mind passing the names of stone masons, drywallers or mantle designers along to you.
